Davis Dance Next Generation

Davis Contemporary Dance Company’s passion for continuing dance education and improving the lives of young artists plays a key part in our educational programs. Davis Dance has a pre-professional training company, Davis Dance Next Generation (DDNG) that makes this possible. Our training company of talented young artists was built from an extensive audition process that brought together students from many diverse home lives, economic backgrounds, and dance levels.

DDNG is made up of dancers from Denver, Greenwood Village, Aurora, Parker, Castlerock, and Littleton, The diversity in young artist is what makes it so special. These dancers train directly with the main company in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, and Contemporary dance techniques. With professional level training our dancers benefit from some of the best dance training in Colorado.

Niki O'Brien

After over a decade of supporting Davis Contemporary Dance Company, and ten seasons of performing as a company member with Davis Dance, Niki O'Brien is thrilled to be transitioning her role within this wonderful organization. As of the 24-25 season, Niki will now serve as Co-Artistic Director of Davis Dance: Next Generation, alongside founding company member Pablo Castro. Niki is thrilled to bring her love for pedagogy, choreography, the arts and Davis Dance to the youth company, and feels like she has so much to offer within this new position. Niki graduated from the University of Wyoming in 2013 with her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Theatre and Dance with a concentration in Dance Performance. While at the University of Wyoming, Niki trained in ballet, modern, pointe and jazz dance techniques, performing in the repertory of her instructors Lawrence Jackson, Jennifer Deckert, Margaret Wilson and Marsha Knight, as well as that of Bill T. Jones, Andre Megerdichian, Keith Saunders and Maurice Watson. Niki spent the summer of 2012 studying at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre where she furthered her knowledge of the Horton technique. Besides her numerous roles as both a performer and choreographer for Davis Contemporary Dance Company's first company since 2014, Niki has also performed with Denver based dance companies Moraporvida Contemporary Dance Company and Nu World Contemporary Danse Theatre. Outside of performing, Niki enjoys spending time with her husband, fellow company member Keegan O'Brien, and teaching at numerous studios within the Denver Dance community. Niki is thrilled to be returning to Davis Dance for an eleventh year, in a new role that she holds with much honor.
